On the entrance and stay at the
Republic of Albania of the foreign pleasure boats

All the pleasure boats (including the
yachts as well) during their entrance and stay in the sea ports of the
Republic of Albania observe the international rules of navigation. The
entrance and stay of the pleasure boats is regulated through the
Decision of the Council of Ministers no.401, dated 31.07.1995, “On the
rules of acceptance of the pleasure boats in the Ports of the Republic
of Albania”
According to this Decision, before
entering into the territorial waters of the Republic of Albania, these
boats should contact and notify through the radio the Harbour Master
where they are addressed.
If such a communication is not possible to
be achieved, immediately after anchoring, the skipper of the boat should
go directly to the office of the Harbour Master.
When reaching the port, the skipper of the
boat (together with the crew and other persons on board) should receive
on board the visit of the Harbour Master Authorities to fulfill the
procedures related to the official checks.
It is forbidden to embark other persons in
the port, without the permission of the Harbour Master Authorities.
According to the article 29 of the law no.
9861,
dated 24.01.2008 “On State Border Control and Surveillance”, item 9 “Forign
vessels may conduct tourism, sports, survey, research, scientific and
other similiar activities in the internal and territorial waters of the
Republic of Albania after they have been subjected to borer crossing
checks ”.
Before starting to go back the skipper of the pleasure boat should close
all the official procedures having to do with the official checks, being
issued with a navigation permission from the Harbour Master.
From these rules are excluded the vessels
with tonnage capacity under 20 NT.
The activity of these vessels is regulated according to the Law no.8633,
dated 18.09.2000 “On the registration, the manner of use and control of
motor-powered navigational conveyances under 20 tons net weight (20
NT)”, article 16 of this Law.
